Canon G1X
Not to be confused with the Panasonic GX1 or the Canon G12 which looks like it, the G1X is Canons new camera aiming to compete with the Panasonic and Olympus micro 4/3rds as well as Sony NEX series cameras. What I’m loving about this camera is the very large APS-C sensor. It’s also priced at $800 which is $150 cheaper than the Panasonic GX1 with the 14-42mm X lens. [Link]
I’m more confused than ever on what compact camera to get. I’ve already pre-ordered the Panasonic GX1 with the X lens but the Fuji looks great but is very expensive and now the Canon G1X with the large sensor is tempting plus it’s cheaper than the Panasonic. The only thing really keeping me from canceling my Panasonic pre-order is the great experience I had using the older GF1 which I am hoping the GX1 will replace.
Update: Just canceled my GX1 pre-order. Haven’t decided against Panasonic but I’m now considering not getting the X Lens and instead just order the body to use with my 20mm instead. At the same time will wait and see what else gets released this week. So far the Fuji X-Pro 1 got announced, the Canon GX1 got announced and I read Olympus might announce something as well.

Get The Canon G1X over all the others because of price, usability and results. I’m getting one and I ‘m a professional. Thanks, Paul Hames Photography
